to accept
the relationship
with that black boy?

Was it her yapping girl friends
who told it her
that their black boys
beat on them
and they wear their scars
like badges of honor?

Was it her yapping sisters
who told her
a man is going to do
what a man should do
and you should accept
what that man is doing?

Was it her momma
who never told her
the difference between
love and l-o-v-e
cause she ain't know no better?

Cause I need to know
Who told that little Black Girl
that little black lie
and let it fly all in her face.
