Dark and Gray

blanketing of snow
footprints of a doe
clouds dark and gray
a road that fades away

deep in the mountains
campfire smoldering
I pick up
my belongings
march down a path
of glory

it's a celebration now
life of kindness
never seen
once had a true love
it washed out with
the rain

thinking with
my heart
that is what's
left to see
no other challenge
is greater
than the mountain
air I breathe.
