My African Queen
Her skin is as dark as ebony.
Her smile is as wide as the river Nile.
Nature's sweet cinnamon
beautiful African child.
A courage, strength and endurance
to outlast the pyramids
A spiritual radiance brighter than any sunshine
I'd ever seen.
With her mere presence she
could light up the darkest of rooms
and breathe life into the dullest of
gatherings.
To be a direct descendant of Kunta Kinte is
her only claim.
Although the spirit of Shaka Zulu, Haile
Selaisse
Marcus Garvey, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner
Truth
Swahili, Mandingo, Arawak-Garifuna
blood alike ancestral rivers flows through her veins
With her ivory smile she could initiate an
open dialog with creatures big and small in the wild.
Voicing utmost respect and concern for all
living beings, and the rhythm in her dance re-awakens the life from deep within
her
soul.
Oh wondrous beautiful princess,
she is my African Queen.
