In Need of an Angel

God, send an angel to comfort me,

to embrace me when I'm in misery.

An angel to wipe away gloomy tears,

to relieve all my sorrows and fears.

When arduous times come along

I would love to hear an angel's song.

A heavenly strain overflowing with cheer,

A melody only my ears can hear.

A kindly angel embrace so soft and warm,

a guardian to lead me through life's storm.

A tending soul to hold my hand,

listen faithfully and understand.

No judging would be done of me,

I would be loved unconditionally.

My angel would forgive me whenever I err,

stand at my side and carelessly care.

Lord, please send an angel into my life,

to lend support in times of strife,

one to be a cherished friend,

to walk with me to my life's end.

When this world I finally part,

and all life's burdens leave my heart,

my constant angel will take my hand

and stroll with me in God's perfect land.
